Opening Scene of Marilyn's Dress

Here's a clip of the opening scene I scored from the short film Marilyn's Dress.

This scene was challenging in that it transitions from the sisters' isolated childhood innocence to the uneasy, almost menacing tension created by the father's appearance. The music was designed to capture the mood of the increasing tension to the climax of the father's reaction to the girls.

Featured soloist: Leon Christian, guitar.

Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!

SCA John Williams Orchestration Event with Norman Ludwin

I just had the privilege of meeting notable Hollywood orchestrator Norman Ludwin! He has worked on many recent hit films including Super 8, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Ratatouille, Up, John Carter, and Priest! Mr. Ludwin was kind enough to travel to Seattle to present various orchestration techniques, focusing on the musical style of John Williams. I thank Norman and the Seattle Composer's Alliance for facilitating the event and I hope he returns to Seattle soon!

The program is valuable to students, educators, and current music professionals in the film and TV, video game, or entertainment industries. This year it is being offered both in Seattle and in Nashville so don't miss out!

Rocket Man praised by acclaimed Sci-fi writer!

Acclaimed Sci-fi writer, Harlan Ellison (Star Trek, Babylon 5, The Twilight Zone) recently praised Rocket Man and the Aerial Fortress in a letter to the directors, Michael Korolenko and Wade Chitwood: "I watched it with growing pleasure, disbelief at its skill, and ultimate huzzahs, this is a keeper! ... I only love your movie!"
